2022 Volunteer for Vets Scholarship Winner: Grayson Gasca

Biography: I am an active-duty soldier and have been for over six years now. I am also a father and a husband. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, studying for CompTIA exams, playing video games, and working out. While in the military, I have deployed twice, totaling 12 months. I started pursuing my education about 3-4 years ago and have taken online classes. I received my associate degree in General Education from a local community college in 2020. Since then, I have pursued a double major of a Bachelor of Science in National Security Studies & Cybersecurity at Norwich University. I recently finished the National Security Studies curriculum and have moved on to Cybersecurity studies. I loved studying National Security, and I am also proud and excited to broaden my knowledge and skills in cybersecurity.

Reaction Statement: Once I learned that I had won a scholarship, I was speechless. I had never won a scholarship before, so my jaw dropped. I was sitting on the couch watching TV and doing homework with my wife. Once I read the notification, I had to stop everything, including the assignment and TV, and take a minute to realize that I had won. It was an exciting moment that I am ultimately grateful for.
